Why these are free

Because the sums are the quick part. Anyone can tell you the exposure action value is 100 points or the guideline weight is 25 kg. The work is the document that goes with it - the RAMS, the noise assessment, the exposure record, the register - written so a principal contractor accepts it first time. That is what Pro Site Docs sells, as editable Word templates from £9, and every tool here links to the one that fits. Use the tools on their own for as long as you like; there is no sign-up.

How they are built

Each tool uses the figures and formulas from the HSE guidance or regulation named on its page - the L23 filter figures, the HSE vibration points system, the LEP,d formula from L108, the CDM 2015 regulation 6 thresholds, Schedule 6 of the Work at Height Regulations - with the source stated so you can check it. Where a figure is a typical value rather than a legal one (tool vibration levels, task noise levels) the page says so.

What they are not

A substitute for a competent person looking at the actual job. They will tell you a breaker for three hours puts you over the action value; they cannot tell you the breaker on your site is twenty years old and the operator has white finger already. Use them to plan, to check, and to explain the numbers to the workforce - then write the assessment.

About this tool

Built by Pro Site Docs from the HSE guidance and regulations named on the page. Published 3 September 2026. It is a planning aid, not a substitute for a competent person's assessment of the actual work.
